HG Efreet build retrospective

This HG Efreet was provided to me by Joel from The Hangar Bay – over 3 years ago! Apologies for taking so long to get to this build, but upon finishing it I don’t think I would have had the skills to do it properly back then. Even now actually, since there is some crazy masking needed to get it completely colour accurate and I’m not 100% happy with the final product.

Anyway, please be sure to visit The Hangar Bay for your P-Bandai needs and use code SAINTISM07 for 7% off your order!

The kit has a few seamlines:

  • Forearms- for these I painted the internals first, masked it and inserted it into the forearms parts, sealed the seam and then painted the light blue.
  • Back of the calves, though the majority is stepped and the only part that needs to be fixed is on the white trim
  • Shotgun

Painting

This kit has quite a decent sized sticker sheet. The yellow details on the crotch, feet and backpack all need to be painted yellow, as does the black and light blue part on the crotch, and finally the white trim on the back on the calves. I painted the yellow parts first, then used the stickers for masking, and then painted the other colours.

Whilst the pauldrons are colour separated, the blue parts sandwich over the white, leaving a seam line, so I ended up sealing the whole part first, painting the white and masking it off and then painting the blue.

The yellow on the backpack is different because I painted the other parts on separate occasions :S
